Effective 4 November 2026 (version 2026-11-04).
Data Dungeon is a digital toolkit for tabletop Dungeons & Dragons players, made and run by Built By Bean LLC ("we"). These Terms of Use are the agreement between you and us. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
You must be 13 or older to use Data Dungeon. By creating an account you confirm that you are. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we delete it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, make sure a parent or guardian has read these terms and agrees to them on your behalf.
Give us a real email address and keep it current, so we can reach you. One account is for one person. Keep your password private; you are responsible for what happens under your account, and you should tell us at once if someone else gets into it. You may change your email, username and password in Account.
You can permanently delete your account and everything in it at any time from Account › Delete my account, or by emailing us from the address on the account. A membership bought in the App Store or Google Play must be cancelled in that store; deleting the account does not cancel a store subscription.
- Free month. Every new account gets its first month free, on every device. We do not ask for payment details to start it.
- The membership. After the free month, using the app needs a Data Dungeon Membership. It unlocks everything. There are no ads and no extra tiers.
- Price. The price is set in the store that charges you. The App Store and Google Play show it in your currency before you buy; the web membership shows it at checkout. A store tells you before a price change applies to you.
- Renewal. The membership renews automatically every month until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Cancelling. Cancel in your App Store subscription settings, in Google Play subscriptions, or on your Account page for the web membership.
- Refunds. For a purchase made through the App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google handle refunds under their policies, and you ask them. For a web purchase we handle refunds under the consumer law that applies where you live; email us.
- Taxes. Prices may include or exclude sales tax or VAT depending on the store and where you live; the store shows it.
You own what you create in Data Dungeon: your characters, notes, homebrew, campaign records, messages and photos ("your content"). So that the app can work, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, back up, display and transmit your content to you, and to the friends and campaign members you share it with, for as long as you keep it in the app. A character page you make public is visible to anyone with its link until you turn that off.
We do not use your content for advertising and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence models. You are responsible for your content and for having the right to share everything you upload. When you delete content, or your account, the licence ends and we delete it as the Privacy Policy describes.
Data Dungeon lets you create content (character names and details, profile photos, campaign notes, homebrew, and messages to other players). There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. You may not post, upload, or share content that is:
- harassing, threatening, bullying, or hateful toward any person or group;
- sexually explicit, obscene, or harmful to minors;
- violent, illegal, or that promotes illegal acts;
- defamatory, fraudulent, or impersonating another person;
- infringing on someone else's intellectual property or privacy.
You also may not interfere with the service, probe or overload it, scrape other players' content, or use another person's account. We may remove any content and suspend or terminate any account that violates this policy, at our discretion and without notice.
Every place you can see another user's content, you can report it: on a friend, on a shared character page, on a campaign chat message, and through the in-app feedback option. You can also block any user from your Friends screen, which removes any connection and prevents them from contacting you. We review reports of objectionable content and abusive users and act on them (including removing content and banning users) within 24 hours.
The Data Dungeon software, design, name and logo belong to us. Rules and reference content are drawn from the Dungeons & Dragons System Reference Documents 5.1 and 5.2, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, and from other openly licensed documents served through Open5e, some under the Open Game License 1.0a (see the in-app Sources page for every credit and licence text). Data Dungeon is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed, sponsored, or specifically approved by Wizards of the Coast LLC. "Dungeons & Dragons" and "D&D" are trademarks of Wizards of the Coast.
You may not upload content you do not have the right to share, including copyrighted rules text, art or music that belongs to someone else. If you believe content in Data Dungeon infringes your rights, email [email protected] with the material, where it appears, your contact details and a statement that you own the rights or act for the owner. We remove infringing content and may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if your membership lapses and is not renewed for a long time. We tell you why unless the law prevents it. You may stop using Data Dungeon at any time by deleting your account. When an account ends, your right to use the app ends with it, your content is deleted as the Privacy Policy describes, and the sections of these terms that by their nature should continue (your content licence for content that stays shared with others, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law) continue.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We do not promise that it will be free of errors, that the rules it applies are always right, or that it will always be available. Keep a copy of anything you cannot afford to lose; the Export in Account is there for that.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost game sessions, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you for all claims in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for the membership in that period. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that cannot be limited under the law where you live, including the rights consumers have in the EU, the UK and Australia.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas. If you are a consumer in a country whose law gives you the right to bring a dispute in your own courts or under your own law, you keep that right.
When we make a material change to these terms we give at least 30 days' notice by email and in the app before it takes effect, and we update the effective date and version at the top. Signed-in players are asked to agree to the new version once. If you do not agree, stop using the app and delete your account before the effective date. Smaller changes, such as a clearer sentence, take effect when posted.
Questions, or something to report that you cannot reach in-app: email [email protected].
Version 2026-11-04, effective 4 November 2026. It replaces the version of 28 June 2026. See also the Privacy Policy.
